A Bit of Roskilde Festival History
The Roskilde Festival was first created in 1971 by two high school students, Mogens Sandfaer and Jesper Switzer Moller in conjunction with promoter Carl Fischer.
Nevertheless, in 1972 the Roskilde Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes music, culture, and human rights, took over the event and run it since then. In 2014, the organizers open the opportunity for participants to nominate and vote upon the organizations that would receive the funds raised by the festival.
